September 25, 2013 – Lewis Contractors turned over the renovated Beans & Bread facility to St. Vincent de Paul of Baltimore. The construction project included a complete building restoration and a 16,000 SF addition to the existing facility.
Located at 402 South Bond Street in the Fells Point area of Baltimore, Beans & Bread is a comprehensive day resource program that offers a complete range of supportive services designed to help individuals attain stabilization and self-sufficiency. Services are client-centered and focused in four core areas: housing, employment, health, and recovery.
Lewis Contractors provided preconstruction services for this comprehensive renovation and expansion project which involved a complete interior renovation, expansions, and the restoration of the historic building’s exterior façade.
The work more than doubles the facility space and adds critical services for the over 300 daily visitors. The center now includes new showers and laundry services, a new employment resource area, an indoor meal service line, easy access for people with disabilities, and adequate office space for staff and partner agencies to help better engage clients and accommodate the growing Home Connections permanent housing program.
The project is seeking LEED Silver Certification.
