Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation Honors Lewis Contractors for Community Support

June 24, 2015 – Lewis Contractors is proud to announce that it is the recipient of the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation’s 2015 Perfect Practice Award for community support.

Named for Cal Ripken, Sr.’s famous saying, “Practice doesn’t make perfect. Perfect practice makes perfect”—the Perfect Practice Award recognizes those individuals or companies who exemplify quality leadership, commitment to the community, and positive impact on the lives of kids who need it the most. The award recognizes Lewis for its ongoing support of the character-building programs offered to thousands of at-risk youth through the foundation’s programs.

Impacting over 800,000 youth throughout 46 states and 411 cities, The Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation helps to build character and teaches critical life lessons to at-risk young people living in America’s most distressed communities through baseball and softball-themed programs. Members of the Ripken family established the foundation in 2001 in memory of Cal Ripken, Sr.

Tyler Tate, President of Lewis Contractors, accepted the award from the foundation on behalf of the Lewis team.

“We are honored to be recognized by The Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation—an organization that has made such incredible contributions to Greater Baltimore, Maryland, and beyond,” said Tyler Tate, President of Lewis Contractors, “The opportunity to partner with organizations like CRSF is what energizes our Lewis Team.  We love to build—it is what we do.   But we are truly fulfilled when we have the opportunity to work with organizations that are doing such important work in our community.   We share their vision, and we celebrate their triumphs.”

Lewis Contractor’s nearly 10-year relationship with the foundation has involved the construction of seven youth fields—five throughout Baltimore and two currently under development in Washington D.C. Past projects on which Lewis served include; Park Heights Youth Park; Cal, Sr.’s Yard in Aberdeen; Memorial Field at the Y of Central Maryland in Baltimore; Banner Field at Latrobe Park; and the beep baseball field at The Maryland School for the Blind.
