September 6, 2016 – A dedication ceremony was held on Sunday, September 4, 2016 to celebrate the opening of the recently restored north porch entrance of the Charles Carroll House in Annapolis, Maryland.
Lewis Contractors craftsmen completed the reconstruction of the original entryway built by Charles Carroll of Carrollton in the early 1770s. The entrance, which had been removed in the late 1800s, includes a new brick walkway and stairs leading to the porch constructed of limestone columns supporting a gabled roof.
For the first time in almost 150 years, visitors can now enter the house through the door used by early visitors such as George Washington, Lafayette, Archbishop John Carroll, and St. John Neumann.
