Lewis Contractors Celebrates Civic Involvement

November 30, 2017 – Olivia Jacobson, Lewis Contractors’ Director of Business Development, will be inducted into the Board of Directors for the Baltimore Architecture Foundation at the organization’s Annual Meeting on December 1st. This appointment brings Jacobson’s personal commitment to civic organizations to six and increases the company’s commitment to more than a dozen groups serving the greater Baltimore area.

Launched in 1987 by AIA Baltimore, the Baltimore Architecture Foundation is a non-profit, educational outreach organization which today focuses its attention and energies on helping to promote an understanding of and an appreciation for Baltimore’s built environment. It is also actively engaged in researching the early architectural firms and practitioners of architecture in Baltimore. Restoration of buildings designed by these firms is one of the crown jewels of the Lewis Contractors portfolio.

Also, for the fourth year in a row, Lewis will be providing the manpower and equipment needed to light the Washington Monument at Mount Vernon Place for its December 7th grand illumination. Each year since the firm was awarded the contract to restore this monument, Lewis has considered it to be an honor to be asked to perform this work as an integral part of Baltimore’s official start to the Holiday Season. Lighting the monument as Baltimore’s “official Christmas tree” was originally started by William Donald Schaefer, as Mayor of the City, and the annual event has become a holiday party for more than a thousand guests.

Other organizations which benefit from Lewis Contractors team members’ personal commitments of time and talent to their hometown have included Baltimore Clayworks, Preservation Maryland, the Peale Center, AIA Baltimore, the Education Foundation for Baltimore County Public Schools, Associated Builders & Contractors Baltimore Metro Chapter, the Community College of Baltimore County, the Carroll Museums, the Archdiocese of Baltimore, the Maryland Historical Society, and many others.

Proud of its Baltimore heritage, principals of Lewis Contractors actively encourage its team members to give back their time, talents and treasures for the betterment of the environment where we live.
