August 28, 2018 – Mercy High School, a private, Catholic college preparatory school for girls in Baltimore, has chosen Lewis Contractors to serve as the Construction Manager at Risk for the construction of their new athletics complex featuring a multi-purpose turf field and new softball diamond. Lewis brings to the project a portfolio of more than a dozen similar turf fields constructed for the Ripken Foundation, Maryland School for the Blind and other similar institutions.
The new turf field will be complemented by grandstand seating for families and guests, press box, a covered walkway, handicap ramp and two new restrooms. Modifications to the existing paved parking lot will coordinate with the construction of the new facility.
Design is currently underway; phase one of construction starts this fall. The project is scheduled for completion in advance of the opening of the 2019-20 academic year.
Lewis President Tyler Tate stated, “We are thrilled to be working at Mercy High School—a school that has been instrumental for so many young women and their families—as they take this next step in providing top-notch Catholic education in Baltimore City.”
Sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy, Mercy High School enrolls 350 girls from throughout central Maryland. Their Mercy Magic athletes compete in the Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland and are the reigning “B” conference champions in lacrosse and “A” conference champions in indoor soccer.
