December 3, 2018 – Lewis Contractors was selected by Gilman School this past spring to provide Construction Manager-at-Risk services for the installation of a grandstand overlooking the athletic fields along Northern Parkway.
The work involved the construction of precast bleachers, a curved brick masonry wall, and a new Trex deck. The majority of the project was constructed on an existing slope, with limited accessibility due to the close proximity of the occupied school building and playground, a 50-year-old Zelkova tree, and grass sports fields with a busy fall practice/game schedule. At the recent ribbon cutting, the McBride Family Grandstand looked as though it had always been there—with no evidence of its construction over the summer.
Previous Lewis projects on Gilman School campus include the science building renovations, the restoration of Carey Hall, the construction of the new Lumen Center, and the construction of the new kindergarten addition.
