New Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation Field for Youth in Park Heights, MD

Ripken Field Park HeightsNovember 13, 2013 – Lewis completes latest Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation field in Park Heights near Pimlico. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Tuesday November 12th to mark the opening of the park. Through a partnership between the Ripken Foundation and the Baltimore City Department of Recreation and Parks, the field was established to provide a recreation area for at-risk youth of Park Heights.

In addition to the multipurpose synthetic turf ball-field, the new park also includes basketball courts and walking paths. The park will be managed by the city’s Department of Recreation and Parks and will provide a location to host sports leagues for the city’s youth. As a part of the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation’s mission to partner with communities to provide a place for recreation and education for at-risk youth, the Baltimore Ravens also joined in the effort by donating funds for the field’s construction. To recognize the organization’s generous donation, the field incorporates the Ravens’ colors and logo.

This park marks Lewis Contractors’ third project with the Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation—two previous projects on which the firm teamed with the foundation include Cal, Sr.’s Yard in Aberdeen and Memorial Field at the Y of Central Maryland in Baltimore.

“By focusing on improving the lives of young people throughout Baltimore, The Ripken Foundation has made incredible contributions toward the heart and soul of this great City,” said Tyler Tate, President of Lewis Contractors. “It is an honor to once again team with the Ripken Foundation in their continued good works in Baltimore.”
