October 24, 2022 – Each year Urban Land Institute (ULI) Baltimore recognizes both construction as well as design and development projects having a significant impact upon the metropolitan Baltimore area – landmark changes in the environment as a whole.  The 2022 awards honored eight such projects, a very select group chosen from all of the development and construction throughout the area, with Lewis Contractors receiving one of the two awards honoring a construction firm.

Sheppard Pratt’s new Behavioral Health Hospital in Elkridge, MD, clearly meets the landmark change criteria as it opened just after the pandemic began to wane and just as Maryland residents began to reemerge from the shutdowns.  It was only then that the impact to the well-being of adults and children came to the forefront.  With its inpatient beds and day patient programs, the new hospital consolidates and expands offerings into a single location where patients throughout the area can receive the most up to date care available in the health care industry.

The 2022 WaveMaker award represents the ninth award honoring this project – following six individual Baltimore Building Congress & Exchange Craftsmanship awards to Lewis’ trade partners, to the Project of the Year award (also from Baltimore Building Congress & Exchange), as well as an Award of Excellence in Construction from ABC Baltimore.
