St. Paul’s School Chapel
Work involved site development and new construction of a multi-level chapel on the campus of St. Paul’s School in Lutherville, Maryland. Construction included a main sanctuary on the first level with offices and classrooms on the lower level. Architectural elements included post and beam construction, Butler stone facing, EIFS facing, a slate roof, copper gutters and downspouts, expressed millwork, and traditional wood joinery. The church was built in to the side of a hill—embracing the natural rolling topography of the surrounding landscape. Work was performed in the middle of winter requiring the protection heavy timber framing over an unseasonably active winter season.
