Mercy High School | Sisters of Mercy Athletic Complex

Lewis Contractors was honored to once again return to the Mercy High School campus as the CM-at-Risk for the construction of their new state-of-the-art athletic complex. The new multi-purpose sports facility—built to include two fields, the Sisters of Mercy Field and the Mary Anne Heckwolf ’66 Field—has the ability to host a variety of athletics including baseball, soccer, field hockey, and lacrosse. The Sisters of Mercy field features a 120-by-70-yard AstroTurf playing surface that was specially equipped with a subsurface shock retention pad that boasts the highest recognized safety rating for soccer, field hockey and lacrosse sports. The injury protection pad is composed of a natural rubber pellet infill, free from any harmful chemicals or toxins, in lieu of recycled rubber to ensure the highest level of impact absorption and collision safety—a fabrication technique not typically used on standard high school athletic fields. The athletic complex is also the only field in the Baltimore Metropolitan area that has a professional stadium grade LED lighting system, allowing for Mercy High School to host outdoor sports events at night. Additional amenities include a new video scoreboard and a nine-seat press box with a clear overlook of the field, refreshment and concession stands, and permanent metal grandstand bleachers that provide comfortable accommodations for over 2,000 spectators.
