Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation | Brooklyn Park Sports Complex

Continuing its over decade and a half enduring partnership with the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation, Lewis Contractors was chosen as the construction manager‐at‐risk to construct the Brooklyn Park Sports Complex. The completed complex brings to life an outdoor multi‐sport youth athletic facility which promises to be a beacon for the community and reinforces the Lewis commitment to creating spaces that inspire and empower Maryland youth through sports.

Owned by the Anne Arundel County Board of Education and situated adjacent to the Brooklyn Park Middle School, the complex has become home to the Brooklyn Park Broncos Football and Cheerleading squads—enhancing the school’s sense of pride and community spirit. It provides a state‐of‐the‐art low‐maintenance synthetic turf field for athletes playing lacrosse, football, and soccer and accommodates the parents and fans who support them. Included in the multi‐sport complex construction was new bleacher seating, a press box, a new concession building, and sports lighting. Additionally, the complex includes a 400‐meter track designed for a myriad of track and field events including pole vault, discus throwing, high jump, shot put, triple and long jump events. Tennis and basketball courts were constructed as part of the project, expanding the range of sports available to athletic youth–the first such hub for recreation league play in the area. This versatile space is fully accessible, inclusive for all, and encourages the development of personal character and building life skills for local youth and their families.

The Brooklyn Park Sports Complex is more than just a construction project—it is a testament to the power of collaboration, community engagement, and the enduring impact of sports on the lives of our youth.
