Sheppard Pratt | Baltimore / Washington Behavioral Health Hospital
Planned as a 12-acre improvement to Sheppard Pratt Health System’s 42-acre Elkridge site, this new Behavioral Health Hospital will be the first building in a larger Behavioral Health Campus serving the needs of patients seeking mental health and addiction services throughout Howard County, and beyond. The new three-story, 155,000 SF building includes 85 in-patient beds, 4-day hospitals, psychiatric and urgent care outpatient services, administrative and community spaces serving the full spectrum of needs of the more than 3,000 patients SPHS sees annually. Programs will be included for general adult, adolescent, young adult and geriatric patients; adding services for the young adult and geriatric populations not currently included at the existing location. The building will also feature secure outdoor courtyards and terraces, a gymnasium, and other features allowing for both internal and external secure patient movement most beneficial to recovery. The new building is designed to meet Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver standards or better.
