Keswick Multi-Care Center

The Keswick Multi-Care Center renovation represents a multi‑year, phased transformation of an active senior care campus, undertaken to modernize aging infrastructure while advancing a more residential, dignity‑centered model of care. As construction manager and general contractor, Lewis Contractors was engaged to deliver this work in carefully sequenced phases that maintain uninterrupted operations for residents, staff, and visitors throughout construction.

Phase 1 marked the first major milestone of the campus reinvestment and achieved Use & Occupancy in January 2025. This phase included a comprehensive interior renovation of the Coggins Building, targeted improvements within the Baker Building, and early infrastructure upgrades required to support subsequent phases. Work was executed in an occupied healthcare environment, requiring strict coordination with Keswick leadership, facilities staff, and clinical teams to manage infection control, life‑safety systems, temporary egress routes, and daily logistics without disrupting care delivery.

A core challenge of the project has been modernizing nearly century‑old building systems while transitioning the campus away from a hospital‑style layout toward a household‑based care model. Lewis Contractors coordinated closely with Perkins Eastman, whose senior‑living expertise guided the reconfiguration of resident rooms, shared dining areas, and gathering spaces. Construction sequencing was aligned with design intent, allowing infrastructure, mechanical, and electrical upgrades to be installed in parallel with interior build‑outs, reducing overall disruption and avoiding unnecessary temporary relocations.
Phase 2 began in spring 2025 and focuses on continued improvements to the Baker Building along with construction of a new connector structure linking major areas of the campus. This connector is a critical logistical element, improving circulation and long‑term operational efficiency while tying together phased work zones. Phase 3 will complete the full campus transformation, with final completion anticipated in 2029.
Throughout the project, Lewis Contractors has emphasized proactive communication, detailed phasing plans, and close collaboration with ownership, design, and trade partners. The result is a carefully managed renovation that supports Keswick’s long‑term mission while delivering critical upgrades safely, efficiently, and with respect for the people who call the campus home.
