Beth Tfiloh Congregation & School | Administrative Office Addition & Renovation
Beth Tfiloh Administrative Office Addition & Renovation was delivered by Lewis Contractors as part of a multi‑phased sequence of campus additions and renovations that modernized administrative office functions and redefined the main entrance experience—without interrupting daily operations. The scope included targeted additions and renovations to administration areas, a comprehensive HVAC upgrade, and a reconfiguration of the primary entry and lobby to improve flow, security, and first impressions for students, staff, congregants, and visitors.
This project’s defining constraint was logistics: construction occurred on an active, occupied campus with little to no lay‑down area and continuous activity next door. Work was carefully sequenced while the adjacent school remained in session and the Sanctuary active for services, requiring daily coordination and heightened security protocols unique to an occupied faith‑based campus. Lewis Contractors planned the work around class schedules and service times, sequencing high‑impact tasks to minimize disruption.
Noise, dust, vibration, and odors were managed through contained work zones, negative‑air and dust‑control practices, off‑hours tie‑ins, and careful demolition phasing—particularly when interfacing with existing building systems. These controls were critical given the proximity of active administrative offices and worship spaces immediately adjacent to construction areas.
Safety and security were treated as daily operational requirements rather than checklist items. Lewis Contractors maintained controlled access points, clear separation between construction traffic and occupant circulation, and frequent coordination meetings with the Owner to align upcoming activities, temporary protections, and campus protocols. HVAC upgrades were executed with an emphasis on maintaining comfort and indoor air quality for occupied spaces, requiring disciplined shutdown planning, temporary service strategies, and close coordination with multiple trades.
Collaboration with the project architect guided the integration of high‑end finishes at the main entrance and lobby and ensured that construction phasing protected design intent while meeting strict program requirements. The result was a refreshed administrative hub and a welcoming, functional front door—completed on time and on budget—and recognized with the 2010 ABC Excellence in Construction Award and the 2010 BCEX Craftsmanship Award.
For owners planning complex renovations in occupied environments, Beth Tfiloh Administrative Office Addition & Renovation demonstrates Lewis Contractors’ ability to manage logistics, protect daily operations, and deliver high‑quality results under demanding constraints.
