Friends School of Baltimore | Zamoiski Alumni Center
Lewis and the Architect worked very closely with the Owner on this project, particularly because the campus was fully occupied for the duration of construction. A dozen skylights, cathedral ceilings throughout, and a full basement were just a few of the challenges Lewis faced in constructing the Zamopiski Alumni Center. Requiring additional focus was the knitting together of five different types of structural framing, the laying of field stone walls in the dead of a bitter winter, and the installation of field assembled, standing seam copper roofing. Also a consideration was the need to work around irregular window shapes each requiring a full size template and the intricate rough and finished carpentry details—all installed by Lewis—and the walls of the large conference room which were made entirely of 10’ tall folding panels. This project was finished ahead of schedule and with savings returned to the Owner.
