Johns Hopkins Hospital | Weinberg MRI
The project involved the construction of a new MRI facility, with a control room, holding room, examination/MRI room, equipment support and storage spaces, and patient spaces. A unisorb floor slab was provided underneath the lab room floor, with extensive shielding provided throughout. The majority of the work was conducted on a double shift basis—allowing continuous construction day and night—and allowing the project to be completed on an aggressive schedule. All work was completed in the occupied Weinberg building at Johns Hopkins Hospital, with occupied patient care facilities and offices in adjacent spaces. Due to the location of the facility within the existing building, and the type of infrastructure constructed, extensive Owner coordination was required to time outages appropriately.
