Johns Hopkins University | Applied Physics Laboratory Building Mechanical System Integration

This project for the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory APL) involved the selective demolition including abatement and integration of new mechanical systems to existing systems—including new panel boards, lighting control system, fire alarm, finishes, and framing to create a new 12,000 SF office / demonstration space. All work was completed in the buildings core amid occupied areas on either side. The project included work completed in accordance with APL’s closed area standards. Work was completed in and around occupied, ongoing office and administrative operations—ongoing work within the plant could not be interrupted, the construction work had to be fully isolated from non-work areas, and frequent coordination with the Owner’s facilities staff was absolutely essential.
